WhatsApp: Officially allow calls between users - bonus comparative test

WhatsApp: Officially allow calls between users - bonus comparative test
We have known for some time, but now is official. The WhatsApp, the largest messaging application in the world, today enables users with Android operating execute and calls between them.

WhatsApp: Officially allow calls between users - bonus comparative testThe WhatsApp with 700 million users and 30 billion messages a day is the master of messaging apps across all platforms. This was the main reason was acquired by Facebook for about 18.6 billion euros. The application, however, at least until the time of the takeover, was the most "closed", because he did not want in no way to unstick from the field of the message by mobile phone. So while competing applications were making their first steps out of the room concerned (the viber enables calls from almost the first steps), the Whatsapp remained loyal to him.

That all changed with the acquisition. So just a little while ago the application opened the entrance to computers via web browser (WhatsApp web) while today it is possible to make calls between users running Android. All you have to do is download the new version of the application or from the Play Store or the site of Whatsapp.

With the new version we see the familiar symbol of the call at the top of the contact with the call be made simply and quickly. But what is the call quality? The myphone.gr could not leave you disappointed and so he made a comparative test among the most popular chat applications and calls to jump the category winner. You say to be the WhatsApp; Let's see!

General rules

First applications. We tried, therefore, the most popular as we mentioned before, starting of course from WhatsApp. Beyond tried the Skype, the Viber, the Messenger and Hangouts trying to understand what is most pleased us most. The test was done in collaboration with the tireless Editor in Chief charlie_pace4, using WiFi network without leaving our place so trying to have as much as possible the same message to each call, while each call lasted at least five minutes. The test focused primarily on sound quality, the volume, the possible delay in the call and end the User Interface application.

WhatsApp

WhatsApp
The new of the group. The UI is what we knew, easy and clean. Call quality was very good, surprising us since it is a new application calls. Another positive was that we did not see delay during calls.

On the negative side we will put the volume of the call, you will want higher and the existence of some bugs in the form of stickies, which we believe will improve soon.

Generally our WhatsApp particularly left satisfied with the first attempt to place the call.

Skype

Skype
The old gang. The application that we loved and hated as zero, one and indeed the lord of the PC on our smartphone made them somewhat screwed up. On the positive test will put the volume of the call, the strongest of all. There was no delay.

On the negative tragic UI which despite upgrades fails to escape the "kompiouteristikes' origins, while the audio quality of the call was a step down from most applications.

Generally Skype is doing very well. From what we understood, Skype gives more weight to the intensity and overall call quality with respect to sound quality. Something that only negative we can not consider.

Viber

Viber
The beloved myself. The first application messaging to spread its wings to PC and calls. On the positive side, the sound quality by far the best. To UI here very friendly.

On the negative tension, which seemed to us less than many other solutions. However, in tests done outside, climbed on. As for the delay, it seems there is.

Generally Viber is among the best solutions. The sound clarity is an important advantage over the other, although here we felt that we reverse regularly in relation to the Skype, i.e. higher weight in quality compared with the smoothness of the call.

Hangouts

Hangouts
H empire attacks. It started as a simple messaging program, and has reached a terribly spread levels and integration of different solutions.

On the plus side the very good sound quality (very near viber), absolutely no sticking, and due to the integration we said before, the contacts are those of the user and not the program such as in whatsapp.

Negative did not find anything worth reporting.

Messenger

Messenger
The Trojan horse of Facebook. To program the Mark Zuckeberg wants to put our lives perhaps more than Facebook itself tries his luck and calls. On the positive side, the sound quality and volume, and may not have the advantage of his contacts Hangouts, has the advantage of its contacts Facebook, where multiple users are much more than that contact's own smartphone.

On the negative side, many bugs. Chris was not able to make the application to transfer the call to the bluetooth headset (which was all of the above without any particular problems) while the call had cuts that we could not explain.

Overall we were happy, but it will not be our first choice (not even the second). Good when you do not have the number of a person and have the Facebook profile.

And the winner is ...

Hangouts

Hangouts
When Google does its best, there is no competition. The Hangouts is one of those cases, the application can perform flawless calls, in sound quality, volume and call flow. Alone enemy the complacency since other solutions are very close and the top can be lost very easily (see Skype).

Regarding WhatsApp, we won the first time. The convenience of UI, the call quality and call flow was very good levels and the time seems to be running in favor of the application.

You, what application you use for your free calls?
