Google is after the official announcement of Android 5.1 made available the Factory Images's site (developer page) TO DOWNLOAD.
Of course the Nexus will first get the upgrade and will soon follow and GPE devices.
The Lollipop 5.1 is here and brings a host of new features such as better memory management, improved autonomy, new notification profile and silent modes, some changes in the quick settings, especially in tile of wifi, HD Voice and much more including physical improvements and bug fixes for better operation of the devices.
At present, the upgrade is only available on Nexus 5, Nexus 7 2012 (WiFi) and Nexus 10. Naturally soon be available for the rest of Nexus running Lollipop. And because as we get back all holders Nexus should have upgraded to the latest version of Android device to go and see how to do this.
The process is very simple and requires to enter bootloader mode and run the flash-all.sh (or flash-all.bat if you are in Windows). Of course this assumes you have installed the necessary tools (adb and fastboot), to have installed the necessary adb drivers and have unlocked the bootloader.
In Ubuntu course your life is clearly easier to adb drivers to be integrated into the Kernel so you do not have to do something yourself, but also the installation of the necessary tools to become a mandate. sudo apt-get install android-tools-adb android-tools-fastboot I remind you that those who want to keep their userdata, can remove the parameter -w from the flash-all script.
Those who want upgrade through Factory Images by following the above procedure, otherwise wait for the OTA update will be available as always gradually in a few weeks. We however do not waste time flassarontas it to see whether and how improved the overall user experience.
